COMMON
So, I know that this is a lady blog. Fine. But I like to look at men, alot, especially Common! He's gorgeous, fabulous, and he's about the people. His swagger is undeniable. I am not a huge Lily Allen fan, I don't think she can sing very well, she's also sort of plain looking...and the whole Trainers+BallGown thing was super played before she even got to it, now it's cheesy as shit.

I'm sure of his talent though, and I suggest you go cop his new album, "Finding Forever" because track for track that shit is gold.

TOLGA!
I have been oohing and aahing over this killer bed for days, Ikea is killing the game right now, plus, I like cheapy furniture..especially if it is of the Swedish variety. It's like Avant-Garde for a discount.

How Delightful, and for $35 it wouldn't even be an issue to break it while fucking....you can just get a new one the next day.

Brooklyn Circus
I am all about brown people doin' it big. Open up a store, throw parties, start your own groups...whatever, just represent and make us look good...Keep Me Hot, that's what I always say. At any rate, due to my upcoming departure to the land of milk and honey (NYC), I've been checking out culture blogs and shit. I want to know what's going on and who to get down with, that sort of thing. I am definitely a social butterfly here, but being one in NYC will take work and planning.

This blog is the truth, these boys, handsome as they are, are making moves there.

Check them out by clicking the link up there, and peep these flicks.

Pharoahe Monch
Pharoahe Monch struck me as quite the character. The day after my interview I spent the day with his crew, seeing them setup for the show, listening to sound checks and politicking with people they hadn't seen in a while. Pharoahe would be bouncy one moment, and then introverted the next, that stereotype that comes to mind about artists applies here...without the melodramatics and bullshit. My favorite and most lasting memories of him will probably be him right after his performance, eating while everyone was talking around him...completely unaware of what's going on, and him joking with everyone about our interview on the bus back to the hotel, questioning what I was looking for when I asked the last thing he bought of value.

It's a known fact that I want to give Ghostface a healthy baby, or at least work on making one, and that I think Nas should perform "Nas is Like" at every show he does, or even that I think Talib is the black man all black men should be, but meeting Pharoahe was the most exciting part of that experience, mostly because there were no preconceived ideas of who he was, beyond knowing his music.

Hopefully it won't be the last time I see him.

BTW: That line, "Ladies rub on ya titties", is right up there with Ghostface's "You Goddamn right I fuck fans" in my list of filthy fucking sayings I pull out when the time is right. Go to Brooklyn and ask about me, seriously, that's my shit every time I visit... NYC has the most beautiful women in America.

Bettie: Give me five words to describe you, your essence?

Pharoahe Monch: "(Laughs) Crazy, passionate, thinker, secretive, passionate"

Bettie: What, Like, Passionate squared?

Pharoahe Monch: "Yeah, that's it. (Laughs)"

B: What was the last thing of value you bought?

PM: "My Iphone"

B: Are You Serious?

PM: "Yeah, (Laughs) What?"

B: I just didn't expect that, Why?

PM: "I just put all of my music on there, and was so inspired by it, even today. I just feel happy about having my music on the treadmill again"

B: Okay, Pharoahe Monch loves his Iphone.

PM: "Yeah, that's it"

B: So, since we have to wrap this up, What sort of answer can you give to people who say Hip Hop is dead?

PM: "It's layered, I mean, it's not a black and white issue, culturally it is in a coma, but the art of hip hop is definitely not dead, I think people are still passionate about the way they go about their hip hop and stay true to it."

B: Tell me about the making of Desire...

PM: "What can I say (Laughs), What can't be said? For me this was basically about Growing, just desire...No pun intended"

B: And since I know artists like the idea of having their words end the interview, instead of me paraphrasing something or coming up with something witty, you do the work for me and answer this last question, How would you like to close this interview, anything obscenely prolific or prophetic to say?

PM: "Basically I feel like for me, it's half time, I just feel good about my future in music because I feel it's, well, I'm so enthusiastic about the direction this album is going, I'm happy."

Now, Let's play a little game called "Did You Know?":

Did you know
: that Fashion Rocks in coming up? It'll be airing on the 7th, check your listings and shit.

Did you know: the sample from "Drive Slow", Hank Crawford’s "Wildflower" is one of my favorite tracks and has been since I was a shorty? Same for the theme song to “Peter Gunn”, especially if sung by Dinah Washington.

Did you know: how short Nas is? I was looking down at him at Rock The Bells, my mum says it's because I'm obscenely tall for a woman. She's always so encouraging, really.

Did you know: the Party boys, minus Sober, are going to be fucking up the game on Saturday night? Well, if you didn't then peep this flier and be in the place around 11.

I'll be there then, hopefully still fully clothed, hopefully still decent. But, I’m sure no one would mind, nobody told me to get off that speaker the last time...shit, it is what it is.

Let's Frug Honey:

The Big Finish is the best part...

This is the history lesson of the week.

Bob Fosse was a bad man when it came to choreography, he's responsible for
Cabaret, Chicago, How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, and, Sweet Charity, which is where this piece came from.

His work is dope because it was innovative for the time, and continues to inspire dancers to this day; Where have you seen those dresses before, Who's good for a ponytail toss at least once in her set? He'd surprise us with new lighting techniques, gave us subtext when we were dancing, and taught us how to dance like we were full of feeling. Truly a fabulous guy.

See I told'ya we'd be talking about men more here....Dammit.

We Love Men.....

Well, I do at least, and I'm pretty sure Cuba does, judging by her taste in man-meat. Damn that was funny. At any rate, I stumbled onto something I think you guys will appreciate, and I know we never really profile men around these parts, but I plan to rectify that in the future, so bear with me.

For now, Benny Moré

His memory is honored in Cuba in September of every year by a festival in Cienfuegos that bears his name, In the Cuban capital Havana, a salsa club is named after him, On the Malecon in Manzanillo, there's even a statue of him! I guess he was doin' something right...

Cutie-Patootie!!!

Rodrigo Junqueira dos Reis Santoro is from my part of the world, Brasil. His film career hasn't been very long, but I can't say that I give a shit...He plays Xerxes in the movie "300". If you hit the theatres and see it, you'll be like, "Damn, they can do anything in the movies!" Well, you can think what you want, but he's a babe in all that makeup too, seriously.

Check him out...

WARNING: The views and opinions you are about to read are merely that; opinions. They do not necessarily reflect those of Gethoneydipped.blogspot.com. LOL!

This past year I've taken notice to a lot of new trends that have spurred up here and there. Some were dope, yet some got on my DAMN nerves. And with a new year coming about, I thought I'd share my opinion on what I hope will slowly diminish like Fidel Castro's health. With that said...

1. Bandanas around the neck

I'm a beliver that style happens. If you happen to throw on a bandana around your neck to top off your ensamble, so be it. But cats are taking it to the extreme. It's not stylish anymore because it's obvious your doing it because other people do it, and you think it's cool.

2. Tall Tees

$hit don't make any sense. Men are wearing dresses????

3. Coach and Louis knock offs

Played!

4. Bape

SUPER played!

5. "Baaaaallllliiinnnnn"

Okay, I'll get down on the dance floor to the track. Hell I got down to it last week at the Ghostface listening party at Eleven80.
But if I hear people yelling out BBBBAAAALLLLIIINNNNN, I'm gonna blow!!!
