OYE!!!!

I listen to Samba more than I'd like to admit. It's the equivalent of booty bass for us. But I never hear it in clubs, except at "The Party". Dallas is very much safe from the "World Music" heads who dominate other big cities.....But we need something besides rap and rock, ya dig?

I want to begin a campaign for more world music, so I will be posting new tracks, tracks you may have never heard of, here weekly.....as a public service of some sort.
Yes, you're welcome.

1.Magalenha-Sergio Mendes* This track is by far one of the hottest tracks i've ever heard, and I have heard alot of music. Everytime this comes on I jump out of my seat and fucking dance.

2.Jazz Samba-Carlos Jobim* Beautiful, lazy day music, sit and smoke a tree music.

3.De Verao-Wanda De Sah* A Sunday Track

4.Je Ne Taime Plus-Manu Chao* Reminds me of somethng you'd hear on a French movie soundtrack.

Check those out, and I'm going to get back to setting my hair for tonight...I'm going to be a
Pin Up Girl...

Face-Mobbed

Yes it's Friday, and I am very proud of myself. I have remembered to update everyday since I began this blog, and I intend to keep it that way, at least until it's final's week....Then it's every woman for herself.

JEWELRY!
These pendants really are cool, I read about them in the new issue of Bazaar, which btw is a definite must read if you dig Audrey Hepburn. She's never done it for me though, the whole waify gamine thing doesn't grab my eye, plus, I am loyal to only one film goddess....The Marilyn. Something about wearing Kate Moss around my neck is good though....this way I can say "Kate put down the razor blade!" and know that she's totally listening to me. Seriously though, Alex&Chloe are an LA based group of pop culture enthusiasts with a knack for filling molds with stuff that almost anyone could like. The site is really easy to navigate, the necklaces aren't super long, but then again long necklaces are really fucking stupid anyway. My personal favourites are the Kate Moss, and The Cassette Tape.

I still make mixtapes btw. Yeah I Know.

This weekend is pretty much guaranteed to be full of debauchery and slutty costumes. It's time for halloween parties! Monkey Bar is doing it big, really fucking big, this Sunday. I love burlesque, I even did it for a while, so that's my biggest draw, but if you like seeing babes then this is the place to be. Plus the drinks are cheap, so you could really get drunk on that twenty you have in your pocket right now

Make that happen...

Here's something to take you into the weekend, Some of that Native Tongue, Boogie Down BX type shit.

Something Old:Something New

New Music! It's a good day when I get to write about some shit I love, and a video that just got
released, something old and something new, like a wedding without the husband and all that junk.

Something Old:
Mr. Clark asked me if I listened to Feist when I first met him, if i'd been smart i'd have looked her up right then.....but I waited. She's so worth it though! Leslie Feist is the chick from Broken Social Scene, plus she was Peaches' roomate back in the day. The album this song is on is a beautiful mix of bossa-nova, jazz and indie rock.....She's the real deal. One Evening is my favorite song off the album so far, and the video really makes you wanna dance along, even if her moves are a little stiff! Check it out for yourself and tell me if i'm lying.....

Something New:
Fergie strikes me as that girl everyone thought was a slut in high school, and whenever I look at her I feel as if I'm about to contract herpes, she looks like a cum bucket. I am a girl who loves trash talking though, and a filthy mouth on a woman is the quickest way to win my heart. But there is a trend of girls with trashy lyrics that I don't know if i'm completely comfortable with, is it really feminism once it becomes the standard? Fergalicious is a track full of just that though, and I love it. I believe that any song should have a memorable quote every four to six lines, and this song is dripping with quotes. The beat is an obvious rip-off of the beat from "Supersonic" by JJFad. If you like party music this will be the bee's knees for you...

Filled To The Brim

Oooh, Red Bull. The champagne was free, I figured this out when I strolled into VIP on some "I Own The Joint" type shit, and so was everything else. Ashley, Shannon, Ben and Stephen R were already holding the spot down pretty nice, so I joined in on their convo and basically got schmoozy. Lot's of button up types, douchebags and, metrosexuals. There was some lady trying to convince me to try the appetizers, "Well, we have portobello mushrooms, and veal, and blah blah blah." If i'd eaten those mushrooms my face would have blown up to the size of a damn basketball, and then where would we be? Moving on.

I can't sit still for too long whenever Sober Select and Nature are on the decks, so I meandered back to where the music was and got to work. If you back up like you have no regard for any human life that may be behind you people move, I am the master of this, it makes my dancing space grow by tenfold. I also figured if people see one person dancing then they'll start dancing, well, yes and no, yes because the other dancers got up for a little bit, but no because the drunk hoe's club joined in and I personally don't plan on calling what they were doing dancing.

After a little of that I realized I was thirsty again, but lo and behold, we were being denied access to the sainted VIP room...No More Drank! It's all good, because, as I have said hundreds of times, I don't drink. The bitch at the door was trying to revive the nazi regime by requiring people to have passes or something. It's all good, the people who needed a buzz had it by then, but what on earth would they do to keep it going????

We decided to keep our presence relegated to the DJ area, which is where everyone generally congregates anyway...The night was going well, lot's of love in the crowd for The Party. Sober played fucking Magalenha, which I haven't heard in years, that's a song they play in the slummiest of discos(because it's in spanish) because when people hear it they come out of their fucking clothes. Ms Twinkle rolled through, with Kevin on her heels, and hit the bar soon after, she's actually slowed down a bit on that shit though, apparently she realized she was about to wreck out on the drunk shit. It was great seeing crowd reactions to songs and the energy that the crew brings to a room...You could tell people were engaged by us, whether they liked that we were having so much fun or not, they wanted some of it. The button up's kept saying to each other "who are these guys?". They were in love with you boys, seriously, it's a sign that you're on some next level shit, as if you needed one.

When I first started rolling with this crew I didn't pay much attention to the way things are organized, now I do. I like to watch the boys switch out the way they do during a set. And how certain people always manage to take care of things by being mommy's and daddy's when we
need them the most...it's on some family shit fa'real.

When the show ended there was the obligatory ride breakdown, and me vacilating on whether I wanted a ride or not, ultimately deciding that yes, I did. We stopped off at Gail and Wills new place, which is one of the nicest joints I've ever seen....like some shit out of a catologue. The set up is dope, the decorating is pretty ill too. After dropping off some records we headed to Zubar which turned out to be a major waste. We just wanted to hand out flyers, promote the party a little bit, and peace out, but the guy at the door wouldn't budge on it, we did however peep Ketih P and Sara sitting outside, apparently it was so full outside was the only place to be. After a little pleading the boy's got in, and we (Shannon, Ben, Fletcher, Ashley, Gail and, I) stayed outside huddling up on some human icicle type bullshit.

Next we headed to this little restaurant off the highway, Buzzbrew???, Something like that. Whatever. The coffee was good, great actually, and I don't like coffee. Politicking with the fam was nice, plus Ben was wildin out, dunking his phone in Gail's cup, stabbing things, then he kept it completely straight when he was talking business with these faux hawk's in the booth next to us....I don't know how he does it, but I have to respect a guy who can hold his liquor in moments like that. We were in that joint for like three hours, or so it felt, it was great hearing Marcus order and try his best to persuade the waitress to bring his fries like in that second, plus the check discrepancy between Scott and the manager. Priceless. There were far too many food-service workers at the table for her to be getting an attitude, youse guys all bat for the same team right?

All in all the shit was deep at SouthSide, and that's how it should have been.

BTW: Klassen could maybe, probably, be making his way back to Dallas to attempt to burn down Zubar again on Nov10th! If you aren't excited about this you should be, I am also going to assume that you weren't there last time if you aren't hip to what went down on the 13th.

I need another party.
