"Don't Do Me Greasy"
So, MTV Jams was playing all of Aaliyah's videos this morning, and I remembered how much I loved this particular track with her and DMX. The beat is from NWA's "Niggaz 4 Life" and this song was featured on the Romeo Must Die soundtrack, so get into that.

Here at the HoneyPot we are all about inventive stuff, and this video is just that. I dig the parts where she's in the box, walking over hot pebbles and then the mud scene...When was the last time you saw a video like this?

The song might not be much to listen to, but this video is ill...

CYD CHARISSE
When I think of real dancers, I think of this gal, she's got attitude, she's got moves, and she's hella beautiful. It's been said that you "haven't been danced with until you've danced with Cyd". She even out danced Mr. Fred Astaire, and that took skill. She was in films until she was old, in fact, on of her best features happened when she was 45! I think she's ill.

Then there's this clip from "Party Girl"

How fabulous!!!! I love the choreography here, love the attitude, love the costume.

It's fierce all the way around, and she's fierce...That's why she's the Bad Bitch this week.

Where the fuck have you been?
I've been asked this at least four times this weekend, and it's a good question to ask....Seeing as I have been staying in a lot lately. So, here's the news:

I MOVED!

This may not be a big deal to you, if you don't know how far I stayed from everything....Like, in Alaska or some shit. But now I'm in the city, 4minutes from Exposition, and A bike ride from Greenville....Fuck with me, Really.

But, I will be staying in more often now that I have my own place again, so really my moving will only benefit me, mostly because the few times I decide to leave the house, i'll be able to get myself back home easily. HAH!
___________________________________________________________________ Naomi Campbell is one of the women I really look up to, as far as superstars/models go. Check how fierce she is, ALL THE TIME. Plus, she was part of The Trinity, holla at me when you get there. She's on the cover of this months W magazine, and they shot a little video of her dancing to Proud Mary by Tina Turner....So cute, and she really looks like she's having fun.

I HEART YOU NAOMI!!!!

Gianfranco Ferre is Dead!!

This man is one of the greats, as far as fashion designers go. He was born in 1944 and started working in fashion making accesories. His first ready-to-wear line debuted in 1978, worked for Dior in the 80's and Early 90's as a Stylistic Director, then did his own thing until now. His collections are really fierce, architectural and structured. Here are some hits:

Mami's back!
Do you remember when Eve was killin the game, when she was on top and wreckin shop on all the other female artists out there? Well it's time for her to reclaim her throne, plus, who's taken her space since she left? Nobody...That's a sad, sad state of affairs.

The video is hot, Tambourine was hot on it's own...plus the colors are ill, the clothing is ill....

And Her Lipgloss Is Poppin'!

LEAKS!!!

I searched the internet over to find these videos, and frankly I think they were worth it! Now, I make it a point not to talk too much about Beyonce, not because I'm being a hater, or a bitch, I just think that she get's enough shine without me....So I try to focus on others. But this. This Video Anthology deal, is gold.

Eat Bitches:

I likes....Alot.

Video Game:

I'm mean about women, I won't be on their team if I don't think they're hot, no matter how many good things they may be doing. My definition of hot may not be the average chicks though, so I suppose I have that going for me.

Having said that, Kelly Rowland is officially on my radar, because she's hot to me right now. I've seen some photos of her out and about rocking some ill threads, but hot to me isn't only about your look, you need to be producing something too. This video from her new album "Ms. Kelly" is dope! It's a little club jam and it makes me want to hit the dancefloor and show the DJ what I got going on, I'm going to save it for the 13th though....Tell you about that soon.

She's fire right?
RIGHT.

Pinky:

I remember when I moved to The Bronx and I was like 15, and there was a girl on my block that we called Pinky. She had pink hair of course, but she was really really hood.....Like, she'd jump you for looking at her wrong. She taught me how to navigate the city and take care of myself in a month, seriously. I loved her for her energy and how vibrant she was. That hair was just icing on the cake....

Now, Is Kelis trying to bite Pinky? Because if so, she's doing a good job.

Candy colored hair is where it's at. Forreal.

I hope everyone's week is starting off well!

Jennifer Hudson Covers Vogue!
Just when you thought lil' mama's star couldn't shine any brighter, this happens.

Darling, You have made it.
In Vera Wang,
And J. Mendel.

I am so hella proud of her, honestly. She must be super talented to have upstaged Beyonce.

Speaking Of Beyonce...
She's in the cover of the new Sports Illustrated Swimuit Edition. The second to do it, ever.
-And she looks quite fetching, even in that damn House Of Dereon bikini-

Get Em Bey!
(She is currently shotting a music video for my favorite song off her album, "Get Me Bodied" and I promise I will be putting that shit up as soon as it leaks. And as soon as I take a break from dancing in my bedroom to the shit.....I love it!)

New Videos!!!
First Up:

You know we have a thing for Kelis here at the Honeypot, so I had to put this one up.....

Starring our girl and that blonde hair.....And Cee-lo. Sounds like a triple threat right? It is! This song is beautiful, even though the video doesn't have the full version, I love it just the same. Plus...OMG! That Coat!

Another blonde I'm feeling, Madame Gwen Stefani, Along with Akon in "Sweet Escape".

Okay, you're like, Gwen? And to that I'll have to say, She's fly. Mad Fly. And consistently on point with the sassy shit I like to dance to while waiting on bus stops.....Quit That Hating. Check out that striped dress and those white pumps she's rocking! Vogue said white pumps were ironic in 2002, I like to think back issues are where one should turn for fashion help, so we're going to say white pumps are good to go. Also, please don't think I didn't notice that striped jumpsuit, I'm in a jumpsuit mood right now anyway....please believe your girl will be on that shit real soon.

EBAY MADNESS!!
So, I just discovered the power of Ebay. I'd been before, glancing around, but I didn't have a credit card then and dammit, I wasn't really feeling the idea of buying things on the Internet. Now I've changed my ways. Here's a sneaky peek at what I bought yesterday:

I've been trying to come up with names to call them, because I like to name my clothes, I'm thinking the first one will be called "Goo Goo" because it's on that Hoochie in Gucci tip, and the second one will be called "Smarty" because in Hindu yellow is a color that inspires intellect.

And here you were thinking that we just shop and go to parties, we're actually both pretty smart, but that's another entry.

Plus:
I also hit up GirlProps, if you've ever spent any time in NYC, you know all about this joint, for the uninitiated it's basically the site to hit if you like buying cheap jewelry. I don't think I have to pool the kids who read this page for an answer on that one.....because we all do. They even have things men can wear, if they're feeling like risk takers. Here's what I had to get off with:
Sooo cute right? I paid $13.97 total, with the shipping and tax! I feel like I made off like a fat rat, but you should check it out for yourself at GirlProps.com .

We're back at it, kinda like crack addicts.

THE FLY BROAD OF THE WEEK!!!

London born, Lily Allen is my girl! Not only does she have an excelent sense of style, but girl has great music. She released her first album "Alright, Still" last summer and has been blowing up since. With excellent joints like "Littlest Things" and "Smile", I became an instant fan.
Never heard of her you say? Catch her on your tube Saturday February 3rd as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live.

"It's My Block Now Aight Kid?"

Now that we've been doing this for a minute, and have been getting feedback about entries and people showing love, I think it's appropriate for me to say that we really appreciate it. We do this for Dallas, ummm, and the free champagne I get at parties now...Definitely.

Lot's of things about to happen, first up:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
This is going to be ill, I'll be in the building for a bit to peep out the scenery but will be dipping out to go another event, oh the life of a social butterfly! Keep in mind that you need to RSVP, because there WILL BE A LIST, so click the flyer to hit up the P.E.G. Myspace.
________________________________________________________________

Next!
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
This is the event I will be leaving P.E.G. to go to. The Jumpoff has proven to be a party for the grown and sexy folks in Dallas, and the performers: Steve Austin and Pikhasso have always delivered when it comes to a good show. This is a monthly event, so if you can't make this one don't fret, it only get's better.

Last But Not Least:

THE BROAD OF THE WEEK!!!

Carmen Ejogo Wright

This is the first time I actually feel a little bad calling a woman a broad, but she's fierce as fuck...no lie. She was born in London, is a classically trained actress, plus she's married to jeffrey Wright, one of my favorite actors. He's the guy who played Basquiat in "Basquiat". Let's just say she's an all around stunner.

Music!!

I'd be a fool if I were to say that I liked music...because that'd be a supreme understatement. I luxuriate in music, get lost in the notes, fantasize about being a rock star or dancer to it, I live in it. I've gone through my best and worst triumphs and losses to music, so when people laugh at the idea of having a soundtrack to your life, I have to second guess them. I know some of these groups, okay, all of these groups aren't new, but hell, they're good-Plus they make me happy and I'm the one writing so I can do what I want!

This Is What I've Been Listening Lately:
Interpol :

They top my list because when someone asks me who my favorite group is they are the first name I pull out of the mental Rolodex. The soaring guitars, anguish, despair, this band's music sounds like it wreaks of cigarettes and NYC loft parties. I can tell you anything about any song they have recorded, own everything they've ever put out, and have all of their music memorized. My heart belongs to Interpol, they have everything I look for in music.

*Songs to Look Up
-Stella Was A Diver And She Was Always Down
-Not Even Jail
-Say Hello To The Angels
-Roland

Radiohead :

Honestly, if you like good music, Radiohead factors into any best of the best list simply for their contributions to the 20th century's music scene. Besides that, they're really really fucking talented. Kid A and OK Computer are like electronic symphonies, and you cannot argue with that, plus they're good from beginning to end. Amnesiac is also an amazing collection of music, even if it didn't get good reviews.

*Songs To Look Up
-Talk Show Host
-Paranoid Android
-Life In A Glass House
-Everything In It's Right Place

Maria Callas :

Maria Callas was a goddess, and her voice makes me cry. Her story is also really interesting, she sang for most of her life, and it shows in her vocal control, she is where I really discovered the meat of opera vocals, and remains an inspiration to this day.
*Some Songs To Look Up
-Queen Of The Night Aria
-La Mamma Morta
-O Mio Bambino
-Ave Maria

Sarah Brightman :

Sarah Brightman sang the "Techno Opera" from 5th Element. She did the vocals for the blue chick. She literally sang that whole piece.....That alone is enough to give her praise, but she's got a voice that melts around music, and forges it's own path into things. I admire those who can make their voices do unnatural things. She also inspired her ex husband, Andrew Lloyd Weber, To write Requiem-One of the most beautiful opera's of the century.

*Songs To Look Up
-The Diva Dance
-Pie Jesu
-Time To Say Goodbye
-Memory

Thelonious Monk:
I mean honestly, I'm biased because my father looks like him to me, so I listen to him to conjure up memories of my favorite man, but damn, listen to Off Minor and then get back to me, he was the fucking bee's knee's!
*Songs To Look Up
-Off Minor
-Epistrophy
-Straight, No Chaser

MC5-

I like steamroller shit, that Johnny Cash, rolling rolling rolling, about to crash into you rock and roll shit. If I can shake my ass and swing my hair to it, it's crack and I'll put it on repeat.
*Songs To Look Up
-Teenage Lust
-Motor City Is Burning
-Kick Out The Jams

Sergio Mendes:

I like a strong Samba beat, but can also savor Maracatu and Bossa Nova just as easily, Sergio Mendes is a master of these, as well as Pipoca music. He showed his ass on "Brasileiro" though, which delivered punch after punch to anyone who listened to it. The albums he did with Brasil66 are also noteworthy, he took Our music to the rest of the world, and did it in a way that America could swallow it in the turbulent 60's.

*Songs To Look Up
-Fanfarra
-Magalenha
-Promise Of A Fisherman
-Mas Que Nada
Spankrock:
He's fun, and cute. Those are both things I like. Besides, every girl needs a guy who talks dirty to her right?

*Songs To Look Up
-Chilly Will
-Blow ( With Amanda Blank)
-Backyard Bettie
-Bump
-Sweet Talk

Anything Dipset Oriented:
I was dissing these cats before I knew what they were about, they like grit, dirt, and anything real. I can feel that. Especially right now, when I'm looking for the hood in everything I touch.
*Songs To Look Up
-Crunk Music (Jim Jones)
-To Be A Diplomat (JR Writer)
-Grill Em(JR Writer)
-Santana's Town(Juelz Santana)
-Shotta's-(Juelz Santana)

The Flyest Broad Of The Week:

-Kimora Lee Simmons-

Now, I would understand if you turned off your monitor's right now and vowed never to return to this blog again, but I really like Kimora. Her story is wild, and so is she......literally. Even though I have become salty on the mixed chicks lately, she's fire to look at, and an intense businesswoman, and in this world, that's enough to keep you on my good side.

Blingin' and Blindin'
Christmas has been good to me. I've gotten, so far, an Ipod, Gold watch, and Fire Engine Red gloves. My list was short, so, so far i've been 3for3.

This is what I woke up to this afternoon.
Yes, we're staying in a hotel, try not to get too pissy.

This weeks fly broad is:
Jennifer Hudson....
Dude, she's curvy as hell, plus, she's got a beautiful voice and a presence that honestly upstages Beyonce's showy antics. She stole Dreamgirls, scene for scene, and looked cute with a short fro while doin' it. Props are due.

Stay tuned for next weeks Diva!

Growth

Around these parts we have a thing for Kelis. She's a chameleon, seriously, and her style has always been dope as hell! Can you think back to a time when lil' mama wasn't fly??? Me either. Her transformation has been very well executed, never too much for her fans to handle, but just enough to let you know she's in a new place in life....

She's the flyest bitch of the week.
