Music!!

I'd be a fool if I were to say that I liked music...because that'd be a supreme understatement. I luxuriate in music, get lost in the notes, fantasize about being a rock star or dancer to it, I live in it. I've gone through my best and worst triumphs and losses to music, so when people laugh at the idea of having a soundtrack to your life, I have to second guess them. I know some of these groups, okay, all of these groups aren't new, but hell, they're good-Plus they make me happy and I'm the one writing so I can do what I want!

This Is What I've Been Listening Lately:
Interpol :

They top my list because when someone asks me who my favorite group is they are the first name I pull out of the mental Rolodex. The soaring guitars, anguish, despair, this band's music sounds like it wreaks of cigarettes and NYC loft parties. I can tell you anything about any song they have recorded, own everything they've ever put out, and have all of their music memorized. My heart belongs to Interpol, they have everything I look for in music.

*Songs to Look Up
-Stella Was A Diver And She Was Always Down
-Not Even Jail
-Say Hello To The Angels
-Roland

Radiohead :

Honestly, if you like good music, Radiohead factors into any best of the best list simply for their contributions to the 20th century's music scene. Besides that, they're really really fucking talented. Kid A and OK Computer are like electronic symphonies, and you cannot argue with that, plus they're good from beginning to end. Amnesiac is also an amazing collection of music, even if it didn't get good reviews.

*Songs To Look Up
-Talk Show Host
-Paranoid Android
-Life In A Glass House
-Everything In It's Right Place

Maria Callas :

Maria Callas was a goddess, and her voice makes me cry. Her story is also really interesting, she sang for most of her life, and it shows in her vocal control, she is where I really discovered the meat of opera vocals, and remains an inspiration to this day.
*Some Songs To Look Up
-Queen Of The Night Aria
-La Mamma Morta
-O Mio Bambino
-Ave Maria

Sarah Brightman :

Sarah Brightman sang the "Techno Opera" from 5th Element. She did the vocals for the blue chick. She literally sang that whole piece.....That alone is enough to give her praise, but she's got a voice that melts around music, and forges it's own path into things. I admire those who can make their voices do unnatural things. She also inspired her ex husband, Andrew Lloyd Weber, To write Requiem-One of the most beautiful opera's of the century.

*Songs To Look Up
-The Diva Dance
-Pie Jesu
-Time To Say Goodbye
-Memory

Thelonious Monk:
I mean honestly, I'm biased because my father looks like him to me, so I listen to him to conjure up memories of my favorite man, but damn, listen to Off Minor and then get back to me, he was the fucking bee's knee's!
*Songs To Look Up
-Off Minor
-Epistrophy
-Straight, No Chaser

MC5-

I like steamroller shit, that Johnny Cash, rolling rolling rolling, about to crash into you rock and roll shit. If I can shake my ass and swing my hair to it, it's crack and I'll put it on repeat.
*Songs To Look Up
-Teenage Lust
-Motor City Is Burning
-Kick Out The Jams

Sergio Mendes:

I like a strong Samba beat, but can also savor Maracatu and Bossa Nova just as easily, Sergio Mendes is a master of these, as well as Pipoca music. He showed his ass on "Brasileiro" though, which delivered punch after punch to anyone who listened to it. The albums he did with Brasil66 are also noteworthy, he took Our music to the rest of the world, and did it in a way that America could swallow it in the turbulent 60's.

*Songs To Look Up
-Fanfarra
-Magalenha
-Promise Of A Fisherman
-Mas Que Nada
Spankrock:
He's fun, and cute. Those are both things I like. Besides, every girl needs a guy who talks dirty to her right?

*Songs To Look Up
-Chilly Will
-Blow ( With Amanda Blank)
-Backyard Bettie
-Bump
-Sweet Talk

Anything Dipset Oriented:
I was dissing these cats before I knew what they were about, they like grit, dirt, and anything real. I can feel that. Especially right now, when I'm looking for the hood in everything I touch.
*Songs To Look Up
-Crunk Music (Jim Jones)
-To Be A Diplomat (JR Writer)
-Grill Em(JR Writer)
-Santana's Town(Juelz Santana)
-Shotta's-(Juelz Santana)

The Flyest Broad Of The Week:

-Kimora Lee Simmons-

Now, I would understand if you turned off your monitor's right now and vowed never to return to this blog again, but I really like Kimora. Her story is wild, and so is she......literally. Even though I have become salty on the mixed chicks lately, she's fire to look at, and an intense businesswoman, and in this world, that's enough to keep you on my good side.
