Guy Fawkes, one of the coolest guys in history, was born on the same day I was?

Guy is famous for being involved in the Gunpowder Plot of 1605. He was probably placed in charge of executing the plot because of his military and explosives experience. The plot itself was to kill King James I by blowing up the House Of Lords during the opening of Parliament...which didn't end well for him. In the end, after being caught and tortured, he was to be hanged, then drawn and quartered. He wasn't too keen on that idea so he jumped from the scaffold and broke his neck, essentially dying by his own hand.

So, in the land of rain and tea, there is a yearly celebration on November 5th in honor, or as a warning depending on who you ask, with Guy Fawkes masks and effigies.

Christmas Time Is Here:

It's that time again, and i've been pondering what I want for Christmas. Since I got what I wanted last year there won't be any carryovers, and this one is a lot shorter than last years!

American Apparel Clothes:

I've always clowned on American Apparel, but hell, why not get into some clean fits and unprinted stuff? This labels stuff is pretty well made, has that minimalist look I dig, and is relatively cheap... I think I may be getting into this.

My mom keeps saying I need to go to the doctor, and last week she made an appointment which is ultra lame, so now I have to pick out some new glasses. I'm thinking that I may just use the frames from a pair of my vintage glasses and get new lenses but if I don't, I want some like this.

The parties started at Lee Harvey's where you celebs like Amy Winehouse, the chick from The Grudge, DOC and more were present. Hal Samples and crew were on site snapping away, and I think the entire Buffalo Exchange staff was there too.

So I'm winding it down, just burned some trees, and I'm about to lay it down in front of the tv. But as I boiled my pack of oriental flavored Ramen Noddles, I had a thought. I want to watch some Youtube, but I'm too lazy to type and search and scroll for shit. Then I thought, wouldn't it be dope to have Youtube on Ondemand. Having access to any documentary, music video, or whatever by pressing the remote would be cool as hell. That sounds spoiled and lazy, but we all know we would all get addicted.

On another note, the fashion show was spectacular! My scene went better than expected and Eva Pigford REALLY has no ass.

Pharoahe Monch

Pharoahe Monch struck me as quite the character. The day after my interview I spent the day with his crew, seeing them setup for the show, listening to sound checks and politicking with people they hadn't seen in a while. Pharoahe would be bouncy one moment, and then introverted the next, that stereotype that comes to mind about artists applies here...without the melodramatics and bullshit. My favorite and most lasting memories of him will probably be him right after his performance, eating while everyone was talking around him...completely unaware of what's going on, and him joking with everyone about our interview on the bus back to the hotel, questioning what I was looking for when I asked the last thing he bought of value.

It's a known fact that I want to give Ghostface a healthy baby, or at least work on making one, and that I think Nas should perform "Nas is Like" at every show he does, or even that I think Talib is the black man all black men should be, but meeting Pharoahe was the most exciting part of that experience, mostly because there were no preconceived ideas of who he was, beyond knowing his music.

Hopefully it won't be the last time I see him.

BTW: That line, "Ladies rub on ya titties", is right up there with Ghostface's "You Goddamn right I fuck fans" in my list of filthy fucking sayings I pull out when the time is right. Go to Brooklyn and ask about me, seriously, that's my shit every time I visit... NYC has the most beautiful women in America.

I've been obsessed with the idea of a wardrobe full of couture clothing. Now, if you read this blog at all you will know I actually hate "Couture", it's obscene, gaudy, and, in my eyes, trashy. This may not be a big deal to you, if you don't know how far I stayed from everything....Like, in Alaska or some shit. But now I'm in the city, 4minutes from Exposition, and A bike ride from Greenville....Fuck with me, Really.

1) Thou Shalt Not Hail Amy Winehouse As The New "Queen of Soul"- Do not compare Winehouse to icons such as Aretha Franklin, Minnie Ripperton and Erykah Badu. She ain't the one. And "The One" should be a sister. Amy spent years listening to these artists to capture their sound. What she has is a skillful balance of natural talent and reverent mimicry.

2) Thou Shalt Not Use Winehouse As The Example By Which To Criticize Black Singers- Questlove notably broke this rule by stating that Winehouse's 2006 album is the record "Lauryn wishes she had". How fucking dare he? L-Boogie obviously has some issues, but at least she's not running around missing teeth and gargling with Henny. She's got three baby Marleys, at that! A feat so many of us wish we could accomplish (well, at least I wish I could. Holla at me, Steven). I like Questlove, but shit. He needs to get off of these White girl's nuts! Anyway, don't complain about the lack of real Black female artists in the same breath you praise Winehouse. It's not that White girls have come out and shown us that they can do Soul better than we can. It's that White women like Winehouse and Joss (VOMIT!!!!) Stone are considered novel and recieve the sort of hype and support that sisters don't. The industry doesn't make stars of the Amel Larrieuxs, N'Dea Davenports, Georgia Anne Muldrows, N'Dambis, Ledisis, Greniques, Davinas, Jaguar Wrights, etc, etc, ETC. But that's not to say they don't exist! Understand, it was decided that Ciara and Amy Winehouse would be stars and that Keke Wyatt would not.

3) Thou Shalt Not Date Amy Winehouse- Brothers, it's one thing to make us feel bad by running around with these Heather-Feather ass, super Nordic White women. But when you go and grab one who is praised for her near-Blackness, that shit hurts. Growing up in Chicago, I saw soooo many bohemian, b-girl type White women, rocking yucky looking "dreads", big silver necklaces and Adidas. Basically, they were low-rent versions of me. Except for one major difference: Black men love THEM. Come on, y'all. It's 2007. Just say no. Besides, she looks like Skeletor.

Cabaret, Chicago, How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, and, Sweet Charity, which is where this piece came from.

His work is dope because it was innovative for the time, and continues to inspire dancers to this day; Where have you seen those dresses before, Who's good for a ponytail toss at least once in her set? He'd surprise us with new lighting techniques, gave us subtext when we were dancing, and taught us how to dance like we were full of feeling. Truly a fabulous guy.

Back in the day my bestest homegirls were Latinas and my favorite movie was Mi Vida Loca. So when I saw this video I was buggin' out!!!! Sharpie lip liner and flea market jewelry for $2.99. (Classic!)These girls reppin' Hialeah (my second home in FL) rocked this video.

What's a Chonga you ask?
A girl of Hispanic origin, usually between the ages of 12 and 19, but sometimes as young as 8. Primarily found in Miami (most famously, in Hialeah), the Chonga is known for her cheap form of dress, a combination of the so-called gangsta look and that of a prostitute, but can vary between the two. She wears ridiculously large hoop earrings large enough to be bracelets, which are usually gold and have their name written in them, and diamond studs high up on her ears. They may also wear thick, gold bangle bracelets in stacks on their arms. Depending on how ghetto she thinks she is, she may wear oversized men's t-shirts with tight, usually white Brazilian pants, with a colored thong worn underneath that shows through (on purpose). The Chonga's shoe of choice is usually either the traditional black Reeboks, white Nike Air Force Ones, completely black Converse high tops, velvet black ankle boots, or the most popular, Chinese beaded slippers in the same matching color ad their top, and worn with ankle socks. Most recently, Chongas have begun listening to reggaeton, but also enjoy rap, R&B, and the radio stations that play these genres of music. They can also be heard frequently calling these stations to make "shout-outs" to their baby daddy. Chongas have a very distinct form of speech, a cross between poorly imitated black slang and a thick Spanish accent, which emphasizes on the vowels. Some Chongas even speak entirely in Spanglish. Here are some sample sentences, and how they would be pronounced in Chonga:

Let me tell you guys something about me, in an effort to be as transparent as possible. I am a dreamer, and I know everyone dreams, but I mean that forreal...everything relates to something else for me, and I think in colors that aren't in the rainbow...I would say I have a very active "Inner Life".

Now, on to the point. I have always had this dream that I will meet some really beautiful man, with locs and really full lips, a filthy mouth and more wit than I can handle. First Up!

Kelis Got Arrested AKA Requiem for a Drunk Hoe-

Kelis was arrested early Friday morning in Miami Beach after screaming racial obscenities at two female police officers who were posing as prostitutes.
The officers were working an undercover operation in South Beach, when cops say Kelis started screaming racial slurs at the women. She continued screaming and rushed toward them, and had to be restrained by friends, a police report said. According to the report, Kelis’ “actions caused people walking by to stop and form a crowd. The sidewalk was blocked by the disturbance, causing people to walk in the street and causing traffic to stop.”

Damn....This is really funny, funnier than when my other girl(Kimora Lee) Got busted for having a bag of Sticky in the car, They were both smiling in their mugshots though, as if they could feel their street cred growing. I hope she got out on bail though, this sort of thing doesn't seem like it'd be a reason to lock somebody up, but the Pigs like to make examples of famous people, so you never know.

At any rate, They do have a line at Target right now, actually, I unpacked the shit the other night, and I was excited about it. They've released knockoffs of their signature (good, wearable, easily translatable) pieces. Hoodie's with logo's, sculptured dresses, striped mini's, I can see it on all my girls.

So, I've been thinking about what I plan to do with this next year, and here's what i've come up with:

Open My Store-Crossed Leg's to be exact. I came up with the name by thinking about something that most girls do, and I don't know any broads who don't cross them legs at least sometimes. The entire idea behind the store is that I know so many girls/guys who're looking for dope clothes in Dallas. I've been collecting vintage clothing for years, and now my collection is to the point where it would make sense to get rid of some of it. My apartment would be the location of course, so as to create a very personal experience with people. I think the idea is fierce, and am looking to open this summer.

Grow This Blog-The HoneyPot is my baby. I started it because I couldn't find anything like it....which I think is the reason for some of the best projects. My girl Cuba was chosen to get on because when I met her this summer she seemed like the kind of girl I'd want to be down with, on anything...she's got a love for streetwear that rivals my own love of fashion, plus she wants to see Dallas blow up, just like me. That's my girl till death! The blog seems like the start of something we'd both be proud of.

Promote Promote Promote!!!-If you kick it with me on a large scale you know I'm always pushing somebody's shit. It's finally hit me that the holidays are right around the corner. It took me long enough, but with temperatures of 75 degrees, my brain just wasn't taking me there. Well today it's SNOWING and I'm sipping some hot cocoa, so I thought I'd get my wish list going. (Key word... wish)

I'm trying to bring my grown and sexy back. I love this Victoria's Secret

I Have Uk Fever.

My mother, the traveling phenom, just ended a trip to Glasgow. She likes the smell of a new country alot, so much that she leaves at least once every couple months to experience another place.

Damn it's the end of the year again! This is my favorite season, by far, I am a creature who thrives on reflection, indeed it helps me to grow and progress past where I am, and that's always a good thing. I've been waiting all year to make a Christmas list though, because honestly, what other time is it appropriate to make a list of things you expect other people to buy you? Just to switch things up a bit, I decided i'd also include the things I intend to get for my family members....I figure this will make me look less selfish, let's hope it works!

1.Fashionation-Ruben Toledo

Ruben Toledo, Famed Fashion Illustrator, and my personal
favorite illustrator's latest book chronicles his entire career,
making it well worth the $326.00 sticker price.

2.New Electronics!!!

The Samsung YH-820 is my dream machine, I have no need to for
anything fancy when it comes to my music, just space! This thing will hold
just enough for me, plus I'm aware of how to use it, having already owned
one before. It's also compact enough for me to not get bothered by having
it in my pocket or bra. Yes, I do keep things in my bra.

IBOOK! I'd seen these at the Apple store, while tagging along with my mother
to get her Ipod serviced, but never really got there appeal until now. A friend
of mine gave me a MAC this summer, so I've become used to the way they work,
and since I would like to invest in a laptop soon, this is my first choice.

3.LaceFront Extensions

You're probably thinking, "Dude, the purchase and sale of humans is illegal in the states." But my purpose for posting this woman's picture is only to show her hair, because I want it and plan to buy it. These extensions last forever, if you keep them well taken care of, and at $699.00 they better, plus their attachment is relatively easy, not taking more than 2hours at the most. Truly an investment, in my opinion.

4.High Waist Pants

There shouldn't be any explanation neccesary here, Look at the fucking pictures!
Fierce is the only way to describe these pants, plus they'll make my ass look bigger,
and at the end of the day, when is that a bad thing?

5. House Stuff

If you know me personally, You know i'm still living the life of someone who just moved into their own place. I've been in dire need of a furniture shopping spree, and this seems like the best time to do it....Getting myself some things that will make my life easier is the mature thing to do, don't you agree?

6. Wall Art

I'd explain this, but I have a feeling I don't need to. My friends really are prettier than yours, all of them. It's also cool because you just stick it on the wall and then you're done, no spray painting or anything....just instant gratification.

7. For The Family

For Mommy:

My Mom's been going through a rebirth of sorts this year, and has recently embraced the electronic revolution with a fervor that could only be rivaled by my own. She likes new toys! So I thought she'd dig this. She also really,really likes Elmo....Yeah.

For Sissy:

My sisters girly to an extreme, and she wants to be like me for some reason, so when
I buy her things she always asks if I'd wear them too. It's gotten to the point that I buy her things I'd like on the front end, that way we don't have to have arguments about it.

8. Fierce Accesories

I need a big bag, my attention span is so short, and I'm always on the go, so I have to carry entertainment with me! Plus I really like the way they look, even when they aren't full of my junk. These shoes are fierce as well, also a product of my always being on the go...heels are gorgeous but seriously, I get pissed off when my feet hurt. My earring game is in serious need of an upgrade, so these will help out.

I have been lax in updates, my partner and I have been swamped apparently......

Sooo, strap in because seriously, this may be longest post you get to read in a long time.

THE MOTHAFUCKIN PARTY!!!:

Tiffany and Syd met me at Urban Outfitters at Mockingbird Station around 7pm. We had made plans to go eat and then dance all night. We got to Subway and realized that my landlady was there, so we got our food and ate in the car! Zubar was right across the street so we parked and went over, only to realize noone was around. It was fucking 8:30! So, we opted to go to my house so I could change, which took around an hour including the trip back and forth. Once we got back to Zubar the regulars were in the building, setting up their equipment. Nature being his usual preoccupied self, Sober was left to find a place to put the printouts they'd brought with them. The wall int he back was ill suited for this, so they settled on taping around 100 pieces of paper onto the front wall, so people could take pictures in front of it. They had a couple gimmicks under their sleeves that night, the other being these amazing cupcakes Ashley baked up that said "The Fucking Party"

Yes. It was a good night, If you want proof, look it up. The place was fucking packed to the gills, like usual, but there were actual airhorns this time....Someone apparently took the "Bring Airhorns" thing literally. No matter. The afterparty conversation was dope too, you know that feeling you get when you see good shit happening and you're glad to be a part of it? I got that. I keep that shit, everytime I come in contact with people making moves. The Party is the business, Tu Sabe?

Versace collections make me smile when they come out, they might be the ones I am most eager to see. Her talent has been evident ever since she took the reigns of the house after Gianni was murdered. The last few collections, which came after her rehab stint, have probably been my favorites.

I always hold my breath for the end of her shows, The goddess gowns she is so well known for. They make the fact that she doesn't do couture irrelevant, because they are couture!

When I move, I have boxes that read "Fragile... Magazines". My most recent finds have been Missbehave and just today I spoted Vapors! Yeah, yeah, yeah, so what if I need a late pass.
